Meet the team
Melanie
Practice Manager/Head Nurse
Having always been an animal lover, Mel has been in the industry since 2005 and wouldn't change it for the world. She is fantastic with clients and their pets and nothing is ever too much to ask. Originally from Jersey, Channel Islands, Mel has lived on the Gold Coast since 1998 and is proud to call Australia her home. She lives with her husband Matt, two daughters Jasmine and Ruby, son Sam and their cavoodle, Pippa. During her free time, Mel enjoys nothing more than a walk on the beach, a coffee with friends or a camping holiday with her family.
Dr Alison - BVSc (Hons)
Veterinarian
Dr Alison is almost a local having been born and raised in Beaudesert. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 1995. Alison has worked extensively in small animal practice in the UK and Australia and has returned home to Queensland after 12 years in the Newcastle region. She has an interest in small animal surgery and medicine and a particular interest in small pets including guinea pigs and rats. She returns to the Gold Coast with her partner and two cats. Biscuit (pictured) who is a very naughty ginger and Mouse a delightful Calico who were both adopted from the RSPCA. In her spare time Alison enjoys trivia, watching sport and following her beloved Brisbane Broncos and Liverpool Football Club.
Dr Sue - BVSc (Hons)
Veterinarian
Dr Sue is relatively new to the Gold Coast, having moved up here from regional NSW in 2021.
Sue moved across the border from Taree where she worked in both mixed and small animal practice since graduating from USyd in 1992 .
Sue has an extra interest in behavioural issues and soft tissue surgery.
Sue has two fur babies of her own as well as 3 adult children. She loves travelling and is a passionate scuba diver and bush walker.
Alex
Veterinarian
Alex is a Cairns-born veterinarian who spent his first few years of life in the UK, before moving to the great Far North.
Fascinated by animals, Alex showed a keen interest in a career in Veterinary medicine from a young age.
Completing his degree at James Cook University in 2021, Alex made the decision to return home and begin work in Cairns where he had been taking his cheeky Pug, Frank, since he was a puppy. After a couple of years in Cairns, Alex made the decision to move south and start life on the Gold Coast.
When Alex is not fussing over which patient out-the-
back is the cutest, Alex can be found at a local swim spot, or crying over his favourite football teams results.
Dana
Veterinary Nurse
Dana grew up on the SE Coast of Australia, she has always had a passion for animals. She started working with Horses in 2014 and moved to working with Birds, Exotics and then into General Practice when starting her Certificate IV. She completed her Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing in 2019.
Dana has a great interest for exotics, she has rescued 4 Budgies, 2 Green Cheeked Conures, a Eclectus and a German Shepherd called Chief.
Tegan
Veterinary Nurse
Tegan has always had a soft spot for animals and always knew she wanted to make a difference in their lives in some way shape or form.
Growing up you would always find her patting or cuddling every animal she came into contact with. In 2016 Tegan began volunteering at a local vet and that’s where she fell in love with the idea of becoming a Veterinary Nurse. She now has four years experience in the industry. She's incredibly passionate about animals and provides both professional and quality care to those in need.
Her dream is to have second chance home for animals that are unable to find a home so they can experience love and happiness. In her spare time she love's to dance, visit the beach and spend time with her family and doggos Charlie and Loki.
Casey
Veterinary Nurse
Casey completed her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing in 2013. She has worked with domestic birds and exotic animals over the years, as well as small animals. Casey has always loved being around animals and has a keen interest in birds and exotics. She has many feathered and furry babies, including two Green Cheek Conures, Budgies and Guinea Pigs.
Charita
Veterinary Nurse
Charita was born and raised in Mumbai, India and moved to the beautiful Gold Coast in 2007. Back home she used to passionately feed and care for street dogs and cats. She began volunteering and eventually working at the AWLQ Rehoming centre and instantly knew that she belonged with animals.
Her passion led her to take her love for animals forward and pursue a career as a vet nurse, finishing her Certificate 4 in veterinary nursing in 2019. Charita has recently completed her Diploma of Veterinary Nursing through a scholarship by Petstock.
She has two beautiful German shepherds named Rocco and Rex who she absolutely loves going for long runs with, as well as a gorgeous cat, Prince, who she adopted recently and is madly in love with. Her beautiful family includes her husband and two girls.
